Finally Friday!

Well, not that that means too terribly much to me :p.  I'll be here tomorrow, at least a 1/2 day, at work.  We didn't do very well on an audit last week, and we are taking a Mulligan....we changed it to a pre-assessment, instead of an actual audit, so they are coming back in a few weeks to re-do it.  I'm coming in tomorrow to do a GMP in the manufacturing area and to finish up some validations.

The Community College my daughter is going to this fall is having an open house at their Aviation school, so we are going to that.  She is following in her daddy's footsteps to be an Airplane Mechanic.  NOTHING at all wrong with that.  Just as long as she does SOMETHING!  She just was not cut out for a 4-year college.  She's actually working with her dad now, 2 days a week.  She'll go full time for the summer, then back to part time when school starts.

I was tooling around the interwebs this afternoon and came across this:

THAT is a must read!  Seriously!  If that's not inspiration, I don't know what is, lol.

Meeting days are LONG...

Yes, yes they are.

I have been in meetings since 9am. I have one more to go at 4:15, then I will be here until about 6pm, then off to the gym for my weight lifting class and belly dance class!

Oh how I love lifting weights!!

Is it hard...sometimes.

Is it worth it??  Y.E.S.

I have been lifting for about 6 months now.  You want to lose body fat?  Lift weights.  You want to gain strength and endurance?  Lift weights.

And the belly dance class right after is the perfect stretch after lifting.  Trust me, it's a workout in itself!

After a day like today, I need it too.  I am severely stressed....no, I'm not eating a pound of chocolate.  I did eat about 3oz of nuts, but I'm not real worried about it.  I also ate my celery and mango chutney.  Was I hungry?  No, but I stuck to what I brought and didn't buy any of the candy bars that are sitting on the counter for sale either.  I'm not going to get to my cottage cheese this afternoon.

My favorite recipe of the moment that I got from the Runs for Cookies blog - Check her out!!  This is a variation of her Tortellini and Sausage Soup.  I made tiny meatballs with the sausage.  7 Weight Watchers Points plus per 2 cups.  Very Very filling.

Then for dinner yesterday, I made bacon wrapped chicken breast, shrimp and sauteed spinach, squash, zuchini, garlic and mushrooms

I work in regulatory affairs at a food flavoring company.  Know all those additives in foods you can't pronounce?  I work with those every day.  If you have eaten anything....you've had one of our products.  We are in evertything from doughnuts to soft drinks to fish bait...yes, fish bait.

I love my job and I wouldn't trade it for anything.  It just gets very very hectic at times.

More later....

Cold, Wet and Dreary Wednesday...

Blah.

Just....well, blah!

It's cold - like 52 degrees, compared to the 80 degree weather we have been having and it's raining.  It's supposed to rain all day.

Yesterday was a wash workout wise.  Megan and I went to Bravo! for lunch and I got the eggplant parmasan sandwich...BIG MISTAKE.  I haven't had anything fried for over 5 weeks.  That did not set well on my stomach at all.

And to top it off, the scale has not moved...at all...I'm beginning to think I am going to be stuck at 242 for forever and ever amen.  I've stayed within my points.  I've eaten all my good healthy guidelines (water, fruit, vegetable, oil, vitamin, dairy and exercise), yet I'm stuck.  This is why I constantly quit.  I have too much to lose that there is no way I should be plateauing already.  This makes no sense.

Ugh.

Maybe things will look better tomorrow.  All I can hope for is a loss by Sunday.

I hate waiting.

Tuesday morning

I am tired this morning.  Have no clue why, other than it's TOM and I did make it through Zumba last night, then walked 1.5 miles with my bestie, Jody.

My awesome dinner last night :

I had fixed spaghetti for Michael and Megan using spaghetti sauce my mother in law gave me.  She also gave me this huge tub of organic baby spinach, so I decided to skip the heavy sauce and saute about 2C baby spinach, 1C mushrooms, 1 tomato and about 3 cloves of garlic and 1tsp olive oil and my noodles together.  It was FABULOUS!  Had it with 1 slice of Arnold Fiber Plus bread - think it came to 8 points altogether.

One way that I keep myself on track is that I track everything that I am going to eat for the day at the beginning of the day.  If I add or subtract through the day, I do that when I get home, that way, I already have everything I have planned for that day added and I don't forget anything.  It also helps me stay well within my points.  I am one of those weird people on Weight Watchers that has to stay within their daily points and not go over into their weekly or into their Activity Points.

A friend of mine is having a 31 Party tonight and I really do not want to go.  I would rather go to the gym and do the Hip Hop class....how messed up is that?!?

Anyway - my daughter is coming to meet me for lunch and we are going to Bravo! Italian Restraunt.  I am going to have the turkey bacon avocado panini.  It comes with a side of fresh fruit.  This morning, I had my oatmeal and a string cheese.  In my fridge in my office, I have celery, peanut butter, cottage cheese, cucumber salad and a couple yogurts.  We'll see if I even want anything before the night workout after lunch :p.

New Day, new Blog Beginning

So my feeble attempt at blogging this past January has fallen by the wayside.  I have decided to start with a clean slate - hence the new look to the blog!

Since March 20th, I have been back on Weight Watchers, and I am doing VERY well.  I have lost 14.2 pounds so far.  I will update my weigh in page this evening.  Sadly, we only get 60 minutes of internet time at work each day, and I used that at lunch time.

This will be my 3rd week sticking with workouts!!  My schedule is as follows:

Monday - Zumba
Tuesday - Hip Hop
Wednesday - Step
Thursday - back-to-back classes - Weight Lifting and then Belly Dance
Friday - rest day or light walk
Saturday - Weight Lifting
Sunday - walk in neighborhood - anywhere from 3-5 miles

I am so very glad I decided to go back to weight watchers.  I stay on plan better, I feel a lot better, and I know I am getting enough calories, where I wasn't getting enough trying to do it on my own, and not losing because I wasn't eating enough.  Granted, I may have to tweak WW down the road as my daily Points allowance goes down, but not nearly as much as if I was counting calories.

Am I going to be able to keep up this pace forever?  No - I shouldn't have to.  Do I beat myself up if I miss one or 2 during the week?  Nope, because I know that I am doing enough on the other days to more than make up for it.

I do all of my workouts with a  Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor.  Why?  Because I have high blood pressure and I have to keep an eye on my pressure during the classes - especially the high impact ones like Zumba, Hip Hop and Step.  I love the Belly Dance after Weight Lifting.  It helps stretch me out and relaxes me at the same time.
